The Unmanageable
What is The Unmanageable?
The Unmanageable exists for the PM who’s been thrown into the deep end without a life jacket. Maybe your company cut the PMO. Maybe you’re the lone PM at a mid-sized tech org. Maybe you’re juggling AI projects, shifting scope, cranky stakeholders, and no real systems to stand on.
I’ve been in those trenches across software and AI teams, and I’ve seen the same failure patterns repeat everywhere: chaotic kickoffs, nonexistent estimation frameworks, inherited disasters, and stakeholders who assume PMs can magically fix anything.
This site is my answer to all of that.
I create tactical, deployable tools that solve real problems—field guides, templates, decision frameworks, and honest explanations that cut through the noise. Think technical precision with an irreverent edge. No fluff. No posturing. Just what works in the real world.
If you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, or trying to make sense of a project that feels unmanageable, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Start with the problem you’re facing today and grab the tools that make your job easier.
The Unmanageable: No BS. Just solutions.
Who's Behind the Site?
I’m Melissa — the person behind The Unmanageable.
I’ve spent most of my career working inside complex, high-stakes technical projects where the frameworks looked great on paper and failed spectacularly in real life. AI, data platforms, healthcare tech, enterprise systems — the kind of work where ambiguity is constant and “best practices” only get you so far.
My background is physics, technical writing, and program management. Translation: I know how to think in constraints, explain messy systems to real humans, and still get things delivered when the problem statement keeps changing.
I’ve been accountable for outcomes, not just process. I’ve cleaned up bad plans, unrealistic timelines, political decisions, and tools that overpromised. Everything here comes from doing the work, not theorizing about it.
This site exists because competent people are regularly made to feel like failures in broken systems.
Because nobody teaches this shit.
